The old people built the amplifiers out of care — they wanted their settlements to grow, their gardens to flower, their dead to be remembered. The Pulse answered. It answered too well. Centuries of feedback fractured the resonance, and what they had imprisoned beneath the mountains turned over in its sleep. There are no villains here. The Pulse is a creative force that flows through the mountains — it animates inert matter, kindles the spirits in the trees, and stitches the dead back into the wind. Where it runs clean, the world remembers itself. Where it cracks, the world forgets. Crystal grows in shapes it should not. Guardians lose their names. Every region in Spirit of the Andes belongs to a single emotional register — and the world steps darker, region by region, as you travel south. This is not a difficulty curve. It is the moral arc made spatial. Everyone starts the same way: in Las Ramadas, the fonda that never closed, where anything made with enough care wakes up — and the map opens south from there.
